The photograph is from the 1940 gathering of the Shadrick Emanuel and Ella (Nease) Zittrauer family to celebrate the marriage of 60 years.
Shadrick Emanuel Zittrauer, son of James and Belinda (Heidt) Zittrauer, was born on Feb. 2, 1859. On Nov. 28, 1880, he married Ella Nease, daughter of Albert and Georgia (Rahn) Nease, who was born on Dec. 15, 1863.
Their children were: Harmon, b. 1881, d. 1944, m. Bessie E. Terry; Georgia, b. 1883, d. 1966, m. John J. Ham; Eben, b. 1884, d. 1955, m. Ellen Underwood; Wesley, b.1885, d. 1992, m. Josie Edna Dugger; Alexander Robert, b. 1887, d. 1966, m. 1910 Eliza Charlotte Dugger; Hattie Wilhelmina, b. 1890, d. 1971, m. Otto Clifton Thomas; Lucie Ann, b. 1893, d. 1940, m. Harman Dugger; Hill Crumpley, b. 1894, d. 1918; Beulah Havilla, b. 1897, d. 1987, m. Gilbert B. Mingledorff; Viola Salome, b. 1900, d. 1981; and Isadore LaDessie, b. 1903, d. 1904.
It was indeed quite a feat for this couple to survive 60 years of marriage. Many descendants of the couple still live in our community today.
