The Effingham Theatre Group has announced its show series for the new year.

This season’s production in the Garage Series will be “The Illiad, Odyssey and all of Greek Mythology in 99 Minutes or Less.”
The group is currently on the lookout for anyone with a garage who is willing to host one of its productions. The theatre is hoping to have four performances on the last weekend of March and the first weekend of April. Just like last year, Effingham Theatre will provide the show, complete with costumes and scenery, but they need local homeowners to provide the stage (i.e.. their garage) Contact the Theatre if you are interested in hosting a production in this season’s Garage Series.

Effingham Theatre is working to have two summer camps again this year. One will be for ages 5-10 and one for ages 11-15. This year the director has chosen “The Little Mermaid” for the first camp (ages 5-10) and “The Velveteen Rabbit” for the second camp (11-15). Due to the performances delivered by the summer camp attendees for the last two seasons, the Theatre will be encouraging more community members (in addition to parents and family) to attend.

On the list for this season’s performances are “Puss in Boots,” the fairytale story of a young boy whose loyal cat dons a pair of old boots and wins his master into wealth, royalty and happiness, and “Beowulf,” the classic poem of a legendary hero who battles a great monster to save an entire kingdom.
