There is no need to worry about navigating the Effingham Hospital campus during the modernization project.

E-Z-GO, a global leader in golf carts and light transportation vehicle production based in Augusta, has loaned a four-seat golf cart to Effingham Hospital for use during the construction phase of the hospital’s modernization project. The cart will be beneficial in helping both patients and visitors navigate around the hospital and care center campus from remote parking areas during the construction period.

“We are so grateful for this generous donation from E-Z-GO, a local company that is dedicated to bettering other local organizations,” said Norma Jean Morgan, CEO of Effingham Hospital and Care Center. “The golf cart will be a tremendous asset to the hospital during this time of construction and will assure patients and visitors they can move around the campus safely and quickly even as we work to improve and modernize our facility.”

Construction of the new 58,000-square-foot addition to the hospital began on Jan. 3. Once completed, the project will create a complete medical campus, designed to improve patient privacy, provide needed space to accommodate additional physicians and advancing technology, create room for additional and future community-based health programs, all while expanding essential health care services.

It also will provide the space needed to bring many of the business operations back into the main campus and out of the external offices they now occupy on the campus.

The new hospital space is expected to open during 2012. Progress photos of the modernization hospital project can be found at www.Effinghamhealth.org.
