RINCON — People bucking to get out of the house and have a good time might want to consider a special event coming up at The Herald Center.

BBQ, Beer and Botox is set May 7 from 7-10 p.m. in the Effingham Herald’s venue at 1204 N. Columbia Ave.

“This is the first event that we’ve had in our building that hasn’t been invite only,” Herald publisher Kim Dennis.

The Herald’s plans for public events have been in a holding pattern because of the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic.

“This is the first of, hopefully, many,” Dennis said. “We are looking forward to hosting a variety of community activities that will appeal to families, children and adults.”

Adventurous BBQ, Beer and Botox attendees will be able to ride a mechanical bull. Other western-themed challenges will also be available.

“And we’ll have live music by Jason Courtney,” Dennis added.

The Rusty Pig will furnish the BBQ. The beer will be provided by United Distributors LLC and Southbound Brewing Company.

“There will also be an opportunity to get Botox injections,” Dennis said. “Effingham Smiles Family Dentistry will be doing them right here. They will cost $10 per unit.”

Multiple Herald advertisers will be on hand, including Rincon Chevrolet. The dealership will display a couple pickups and have someone available to discuss financing.

“It’s an opportunity for advertisers to share their story,” Dennis said.

BBQ, Beer and Botox tickets are being sold at the Effingham Herald office for $35. A limited number is available.
