Harriette Armstrong, a loan officer for International Mortgage, was recognized by the U.S. Department of Agriculture on Thursday for financing more than $1 million in home loans backed by the USDA.

Jeanmarie DeLoach, rural development manager from the USDA, presented Armstrong with the award.

“Harriette’s been a good representative for International Mortgage,” DeLoach said. “We enjoy a good relationship with her.”

DeLoach said the program allows those in rural areas to purchase homes using a mortgage that is backed by the USDA, and does not require private mortgage insurance to be paid.

Armstrong has been with International Mortgage since 2002.

“I was surprised when they called me,” Armstrong said. “It feels nice.”
