Busy Rincon Fire Dept. to get new gear

Rincon fire fighters should be getting upgraded safety equipment, after city council members approved starting a bid process for a host of gear items.

The city will receive bids 50 air packs, 100 air bottles, 50 face pieces and two rapid intervention team packs with air bottles for the fire department. The rapid intervention team packs have 60-minute cylinders, instead of 30-minute cylinders, and are used in case firefighters have to rescue one of their own.

“This will replace everything,” Rincon Fire Chief Corey Rahn said.
