Carlson enters lease agreement for former Walt's Furniture building
Springfield DDA

SPRINGFIELD -- Carlson’s Springfield Holdings (CSH), an LLC of Springfield business owner James Carlson, has entered into a lease agreement with the Springfield Downtown Development Authority (DDA) for 405 N. Laurel Street, the former location of Walt’s Furniture.

The lease was approved by both parties and executed at the DDA meeting Tuesday night. Carlson will invest a minimum of $500,000 into the building and create several additional tenant spaces. In exchange, Carlson has given the DDA the properties he owns at 712 N. Laurel Street.

The DDA is excited to enter this new venture with Carlson and to see the building occupied again. This lease will allow Carlson to renovate the building to suit his current business needs and create much-needed additional commercial tenant space in downtown.

Renovations at 405 N. Laurel are expected to begin immediately.
