Accidents claim 26 lives over holiday weekend

Twenty-six people died on Georgia’s roads over the Thanksgiving weekend, according to the state Department of Public Safety.

Of the 3,850 accidents recorded from 6 p.m. Nov. 21-midnight Nov. 25, there were 844 injuries. Estimates projected 3,285 crashes with 18 deaths and 1,299 injuries. In 2006, there were 3,510 crashes, resulting in 19 deaths and 1,463 injuries.

There were no fatalities recorded by Troop I, which includes Rincon’s Post 42.
