A suspected carjacker faces a multitude of charges after his arrest Wednesday afternoon.

Effingham County Sheriff’s deputies arrested Jerald Lavon Allen, 29, at a home on Marion Avenue in Clyo without incident on Wednesday, ending a manhunt that began Monday night.

Allen is said to have used a handgun and taken a car in Jasper County, S.C., on Monday night. Jasper County authorities issued a be on the lookout advisory, and Clyo area residents reported a suspicious-looking vehicle this morning. Deputies confirmed that car was the one that had been reported to be carjacked the night before.

Deputies also recovered a handgun and a knife, according to ECSO Detective David Ehsanipoor. It is not known if the handgun was the one used in the carjacking.

Allen faces charges of theft by receiving stolen property, possession of a firearm by a convicted felon and obstruction of law enforcement officers, in addition to any charges South Carolina authorities may bring against him.

Two people in the house where Allen was found also were arrested for outstanding warrants. Allen, now in the Effingham County Jail, was wanted on an outstanding warrant for another case.
