Deputies search for fleeing driver
Wednesday morning chase hit 100 mph

Effingham County sheriff’s deputies are looking for a man who led them and other law enforcement officers on a high-speed chase early Wednesday morning.

Effingham deputies attempted to stop the man, identified as 23-year-old Brian Jamar Williams of Pembroke, on I-16 for a traffic violation. According to the Effingham County Sheriff’s Office, Williams fled, and the ensuing pursuit hit speeds in excess of 100 mph.
Williams crashed his vehicle into a tree off Bloomingdale Road in Chatham County and then ran.

He has active warrants for battery and failure to appear. He now has additional warrants for felony fleeing to elude, reckless driving, possession of marijuana, obstruction of a law enforcement officer, and several other traffic charges.
