State troopers from the Rincon post of the Georgia State Patrol investigated 18 traffic crashes during October in Effingham County. Sergeant 1st Class Riner said the traffic crashes resulted in 20 injuries and two traffic deaths.

Troopers also issued 219 traffic citations in the county during the month. The total includes eight arrests for driving under the influence, 113 citations for speeding, 42 seat belt violations and four child restraint violations. Troopers also issued 257 warnings.

In addition to enforcement activity, SFC Riner also announced that troopers conducted one safety education presentations to promote traffic safety in Effingham County.
