Rincon Police officers arrested a Guyton man last Wednesday as he tried to pawn allegedly stolen items.

According to a Rincon Police report, the Savannah-Chatham Metropolitan Police Department alerted Rincon that a man, wanted on several felony charges in Savannah, was in Rincon attempting to pawn items. SCMPD also said the vehicle the man, identified as Ronald John Allenovitch, was driving was stolen.

When officers arrived at the pawn store, Allenovitch hesitated when asked for his name. When an officer told him he was being placed under investigative detention, Allenovitch and climbed on top of a counter. He continued to disregard requests to get down from the counter and lay on the ground, according to the report.

Allenovitch eventually jumped down from the counter and put his hands in front of his face, asking officers not to use their taser on him. He then tried to run out of the building but a Rincon officer tackled him. The officer and the suspect continued to wrestle and went from inside the store to the outside, rolling into the stolen vehicle. Allenovitch attempted to break free and start running again but an officer engaged his taser, hitting the suspect. The leads, however, did not go all the way through Allenovitch’s shirt, and he got up and started running again toward a nearby gas station.

Officers pursued and wrestled him to the ground, where he continued resisting. Another officer used his taser on Allenovitch’s right calf, and the suspect was subdued.

Officers were given a lunch box that contained four tools Allenovitch was attempting to sell. A check of the vehicle identification number showed the vehicle had been stolen out of Savannah.

Allenovitch was taken to Effingham County Jail and booked on obstructing or hindering law enforcement officers and theft by receiving stolen property. Both charges are felonies. Savannah-Chatham Metro also placed a hold on the suspect.
