An Effingham County superior court judge has awarded the Effingham County Sheriff’s Office over $36,000, a car and a mobile home in Rincon as seized assets from a drug dealer.

Drug investigators arrested Clinton Williams, 62, of Rincon on Nov. 21, 2007. After a lengthy investigation, deputies made contact with Williams, who was in possession of thousands of narcotic pain medications, along with more than $36,000 in cash, according to authorities. The car seized was a Cadillac Seville SLS.

Williams was charged with two counts of possession and manufacturing a controlled substance, obtaining regulated drugs by fraud, conspiracy to commit a drug-related offense, possession of legal in the original container and unlawful use of communication facilities.

“We must provide a safe environment for our children and a hostile work environment for drug deals,” Sheriff Jimmy McDuffie said. “We must attack the drug problem and be proactive.”

Sheriff McDuffie said he plans on using the money to purchase additional equipment to combat crime within Effingham County.
