Three people are in jail facing serious felony charges after attempting to run over Effingham County drug investigators Friday night during a drug operation.

Investigators seized several hundred Xanax pills, marijuana, and a vehicle Friday night in south Effingham County.

Jonathan Taylor Gibson, 18, of Richmond Hill, was charged with aggravated assault on a law enforcement officer, felony obstruction of a law enforcement officer, possession of a controlled substance with intent to distribute, possession of marijuana, interference with government property and conspiracy.

Aaron Lee Howard, 20, of Richmond Hill, was arrested and charged with felony obstruction of a law enforcement officer, possession of marijuana and conspiracy.

A 16-year-old juvenile was arrested and faces numerous felony charges as well. He is being held in the Claxton Youth Detention Center.

In the past week, drug investigators have arrested over half a dozen people, seized several hundred Xanax pills, ecstasy, over one pound of marijuana, a large amount of powder and crack cocaine, along with three vehicles.

These arrests stem from an extensive investigation conducted by the Effingham County Sheriffs Office Drug Suppression Unit.

More arrests are expected in the near future.
