Wife of slain Effingham man arrested
Robin Heidt charged with threatening witness

Effingham County Sheriff’s investigators and Georgia Bureau of Investigation agents have arrested the wife of an Effingham County man was shot to death in August 2008.

According to reports, Robin Heidt was taken into custody Tuesday evening and charged with intimidating a witness. The charge is in connection to the investigation in the shooting death of her husband Carey Heidt.

Carey Heidt and his father Phillip Heidt, both prominent developers and businessmen, were shot to death in August 2008 at Phillip Heidt’s home on Springfield-Egypt Road.

Robin Heidt, 35, was arrested around 5:30 p.m. Tuesday and booked into the Effingham County Jail.

Craig Heidt, Carey Heidt’s brother, has been charged with two counts of murder in the deaths of father and brother.

Judge Gates Peed has issued an order restricting extrajudicial statements, also known as a gag order, in the case late last month.
