ATLANTA—Members of Effingham County’s General Assembly delegation remain optimistic, though cautiously, about the prospects for the state budget.

“The good news is revenues are starting to recover,” said Sen. Jack Hill (R-Reidsville), the chairman of the Senate Appropriations Committee. “The revenue estimates in the governor’s budget is 6 percent which some people think is pretty optimistic. I think it’s doable.”

Gov. Nathan Deal has submitted a $15.9 billion spending plan to the General Assembly, with anticipated general fund revenues of almost $18.2 billion.
