SPRINGFIELD -- Last month, the Effingham County Sheriff’s Office initiated an investigation after numerous reports of criminal damage and theft had occurred throughout Effingham County. 

During the course of the investigation, it was revealed the crimes were not isolated to just this county. The Effingham County Sheriff’s Office worked in conjunction with the Chatham County Police Department, Bulloch County Sheriff’s Office, Emmanuel County Sheriff’s Office, Jasper County Sheriff’s Office, Bryan County Sheriff’s Office and Statesboro Police Department to make two arrests and close dozens of cases. 

Charles Henry Hall, 38 and Jamie Lance Steed, 44 were  arrested Wednesday night and charged with burglary in the 2nd degree, theft by receiving, multiple counts of theft by taking and criminal damage to property. Both men were transported to the Effingham County Jail where they remain.
