The Coastal Georgia Area Agency on Aging and Care Improvement Plus, Georgia’s largest state-wide chronic condition Medicare special needs plan, are hosting a free event for Savannah area seniors Wednesday regarding health preparations for emergencies.
The event features a presentation from the Chatham County Emergency Management Association about precautions seniors should take in the event of an emergency to maintain their health. In addition, representatives of the Chatham County UGA Cooperative Extension will provide a healthy cooking demonstration.
The event —“Disaster Preparedness – Are You Ready?” — will feature information on health preparations for emergencies. There also will be free information on local senior resources, plus food, prizes and giveaway items, including a disaster preparedness kit.
The program will be from 10 a.m.-noon at the Bamboo Farm and Coastal Gardens’ Bethel Bur-Ton Conference Center at 2 Canebrake Rd.
Disasters can strike anywhere at any time. Seniors, particularly those with chronic health conditions, need to take extra precautions to make sure they can maintain their health if the unthinkable happens.
