Springfield City Council members are working on amending their special event use permits after a request from the Effingham Chamber of Commerce.

The Chamber will hold a Taste of Effingham on March 3 from 5-7 p.m. at the Effingham County Recreation and Parks gym in Springfield. Since the locale is within the city limits, the city’s ordinances would come into effect. The city’s current ordinance would not allow the sale of beer and wine by the Chamber.

“We need to amend the ordinance to allow it,” City Manager Brett Bennett said.
