Sunday sales may have to wait

Effingham County voters may have to wait a year to act on any proposal on Sunday sales of alcohol in the county.

Commissioners balked at the $40,000 price tag for a referendum. The earliest a referendum could be held is March and the county could hold one in November. But there are no other countywide elections scheduled for this year.

The next date for a countywide vote would be February’s presidential preference primary.
