SPRINGFIELD -- The Grovetown Warriors used another big early inning to win the deciding game of their best-of-three Class AAAAAA baseball playoff series against Effingham County on Friday.

The Rebels, who trailed 7-0 in the first inning of Game 2 on Thursday, surrendered five runs in the second frame Friday and fell 9-3.

Effingham County, which won Thursday's opener on the strength of a on-hitter by Ethan Johnnson, rallied for a couple of runs in the third inning but the Warriors responded with three in their fourth at-bat to fluff their cushion.

The Rebels were outhit 13-7. Zach Wilson and Christian Campbell added two hits and an RBI apiece.
