The South Effingham Mustangs (27-10) and Pope Greyhounds (28-10) will settle their Class AAAAAA quarterfinal baseball series at 1 p.m. today at The Corral.

The finale of the best-of-three set was rained out Wednesday.

Today's showdown was necessitated by a split Tuesday. South Effingham won a see-saw opener 9-8. Pope rebounded to win the nightcap 9-3.

The winner will host Lassiter next week.

About 25 South Effingham High School football moms hit the field Monday night for Mustang Mamas, a preseason event giving them a hands-on taste of drills, coaching and camaraderie. Between laughs and learning, the moms gained a new appreciation for what their sons go through in the Georgia heat.
