Effingham County Assistant Superintendent Dr. Yancy Ford notified the Herald on Friday morning that the all the district's athletic events are cancelled until further notice after today's games.

Teams may practice after school as long as school remains open. There will be no weekend practices or holiday practices.

The actions are an effort to battle the coronavirus. The GHSA on Thursday night recommended that schools halttheir sports activities.
