South Effingham’s boys and girls golf teams began the season in tournament play. Carter Patnaude’s 89 led the boys at the Camden Classic on Feb. 24, while Cayla Tasney and Hillary Smith combined to shoot a 79 in a two-person scramble in the Red Ryder at Sanctuary Cove in Waverly on March 2.

On March 7, the SEHS boys shot a 166 to defeat both Calvary and Effingham County at the Rincon Golf Course.

Mustang Jacob Tasney shot a nine-hole 38 to finish as low medalist. On the girls’ side, Cayla Tasney was low medalist at 40.

Both SEHS teams played at Richmond Hill on March 12. The boys had a score of 174 which beat Effingham County but lost to the Wildcats. Jacob Tasney led the way with a 39.

The girls lost to both ECHS and Richmond Hill despite Cayla Tasney’s 44.

Last Thursday (March 14), the Mustang girls played at the Landings Palmetto Course in Savannah. They defeated St. Vincent's and lost to ECHS. Tasney again led the girls.

South is back in action at Rincon Golf Course Tuesday and Thursday at 3:30 p.m.
