South Effingham’s offense and pitching were equally strong in a 9-0 Region 2-AAAAAA softball rout of Statesboro (6-8. 2-7) on Tuesday.

The visiting Lady Mustangs (13-2-1, 5-1) got a pair of homers from Alex Brown and another circuit clout from Avery Roddenberry. Brown collected three RBI and Roddenberry and Whitney Thompson each had two.

Bailey Kendziorski was the winning pitcher. She allowed only three hits and logged six strikeouts before turning the mound over to Haleigh Maruca in the fifth inning. Maruca didn’t surrender a hit and fanned one.
