The Miner League Storm of Rincon won the USSSA Northwest state championship, going 5-0 in the tournament held June 12-15 in Peachtree City.

There were 18 teams in the 10 and under AA baseball tournament, and teams had to accumulate points throughout the year in order to qualify. Leading up to this tournament, the Miner League Storm won the Super NIT Warm up in Garden City on March 8, the Louisville D2ESports Triple Play in Statesboro on May 17 and the Memorial Day Mania tournament in Pooler on May 24.

The Storm also collected third-place points in Brunswick, Atlanta and Summerville, S.C.

The Rincon-based team, ranked No. 1 in Georgia and No. 22 in the nation among U10 AA teams, is 30-11 overall in USSSA baseball. The team has scored 166 runs while allowing only 85.

The Storm edged the Kennesaw Express 4-3 to open the Northwest tournament, then edged the Sandy Plains Prowlers 6-5. They beat the West Georgia Warriors 6-5, thumped the R-Silvertown Sluggers out of Thomaston 16-8 and finished the tournament with an 8-5 win over the Oregon Park Hornets.

The next stop for the team is the Final Four. The Final Four tournament invites only the four winners of the state playoff tournaments to compete in the two-day tournament, which will be held in Atlanta on June 28.  The winner will be crowned the USSSA-AA state champion.
