Ebenezer Middle School’s baseball team won the Coastal region championship, beating Savannah Christian 2-0 in the finale.
The Eagles won their first title since 2010 as Perry Fulcher hit a two-run double in the top of the sixth inning for the game’s only runs and David Goodson threw a one-hit complete game.
The Eagles began the playoffs as the No. 8 seed and beat top seed and previously-unbeaten South Effingham 15-2 in the first round.
EMS knocked off Southeast Bulloch 6-4 in the second round to advance to the championship game.
Against Savannah Christian, Peyton Houston led off the sixth with a single, stole second base and moved to third on a passed ball. Following a walk to Goodson, Fulcher doubled to left-center field.
“I could not be any prouder of these guys,” said coach Michael Rossano. “They have worked hard all season, battled through injuries, and worked together as a team to bring home this championship. They truly deserve it.”
