Josh Reddick (Oakland Athletics) — With his new walkup music — “Careless Whisper” — Reddick is making noise at the plate. He hit two homers, including a grand slam, and drove in a career-best six runs Friday night against Cleveland. His average is up to .237 after going 8 for his last 23 at-bats. He has four homers, two doubles and three triples, and he has driven in 20 runs.

JB Wendelken (Winston-Salem Dash) — Wendelken has dropped his last three starts, falling to 3-4 on the year. He has an earned run average of 4.96. He has struck out 38 and walked only seven in 46 1/3 innings and has allowed 54 hits.

Baseball
Andrew Martin (East Georgia State College) — Martin was 4-2 with two complete games, allowing 37 earned runs on 74 hits and 31 walks while striking out 36 in 63 2/3 innings for the Bobcats.

Kyle Ward (Georgia College and State University) — The Bobcats’ season ended Friday with a 5-0 loss to Catawba in the NCAA Southeast Regional. Ward was 1-0 with a 7.71 ERA, striking out 22 and walking eight while giving up 39 hits in 25 2/3 innings.

Alec Arnsdorff (Georgia Highlands College) — Arnsdorff, a freshman catcher, played in 17 games and is 5-for-28 with a double and four RBIs for the Chargers.

Cal Baker (Georgia Southern University) — Baker is 3-for-28 in 10 games, starting eight of them. He has scored five runs and collected two RBIs. The Eagles start the Southern Conference tournament Wednesday against Appalachian State at 10 a.m.

Ryan Frederick (GSU) — The right-hander is 4-0 with a 3.83 ERA, striking out 36 and walking 14 while allowing 49 hits in 47 innings. He has appeared in 18 games, nine of them starts.

Eric Knox (Georgia Tech) — Knox, a freshman outfielder for the Yellow Jackets, went 3-for-3 over the weekend, raising his average to .462. He is 6-for-13 for the season with a double and one RBI.

Spencer Harvey (Middle Georgia State College) — Harvey hit .268 (22-for-82) with five doubles and 15 RBIs.

Austin Denney (Savannah State University) — Denney is 5-5 with an ERA of 4.42 for the Tigers. In 16 games, he has allowed 38 earned runs on 86 hits and 27 walks in 77 1/3 innings. He has 46 strikeouts. The Tigers fell to Norfolk State on Sunday in the MEAC tournament championship.

Aaron Hoffer (SSU) — Hoffer is hitting .229 with one homer, five doubles, one triple and 21 RBIs.

Brandon Wallace (SSU) — Wallace has appeared in 14 games, giving up 19 earned runs on 32 hits and 11 walks over 17 innings.


Softball
Alexis Mercer (Armstrong Atlantic State University) — Mercer and No. 19-ranked Pirates advanced to the NCAA Division II national championship, beating No. 2-ranked North Georgia 12-10 Saturday in the Southeast Super Regional. Mercer is hitting .425 with 22 homers, 49 RBIs, 15 doubles, one triple and 57 runs.

Maddie Evans (Reinhardt University) — Evans is 5-for-21 with four runs scored and five RBIs for the Eagles (44-8). Reinhardt advanced to the NAIA Softball World Series, to be held May 23-29 in Columbus.

Katie Rietkovich (Reinhardt University) — Rietkovich is hitting .316 with 17 home runs, five doubles, one triple and 47 RBIs for the Eagles. She was named to the all-AAC team.
