Josh Reddick (Oakland Athletics) — It was a tough week for Reddick and the A’s. He was 2-for-14 for the week, and Oakland was swept in a four-game series against Anaheim. Reddick is hitting .251 with 10 home runs, 40 runs batted in, 11 doubles and five triples.

JB Wendelken (Winston-Salem Dash) — Wendelken had a rough outing Wednesday against Myrtle Beach, allowing seven earned runs on nine hits in three innings. For the season, he is 6-10 with a 5.37 ERA, with 122 strikeouts and 175 hits allowed in 140 2/3 innings.

Football
Tovar Allen (Alabama State University)  — Allen, a senior offensive lineman, played in the Hornets’ 51-20 loss to Sam Houston State to open the season Saturday.

Tyler Hagan (Savannah State University) — Hagan, a freshman wide receiver, did not play in Savannah State’s season-opening loss to Middle Tennessee State.


Women’s soccer
Sydnie Van Curen (Georgia Southern University) — Van Curen, a senior forward, got the start in a 2-1 win over Indiana and recorded one shot in a 3-0 loss to Auburn. GSU is 3-1 on the season.

Marisa Hamm (University of South Carolina-Beaufort) — Hamm had one shot in the 4-1 season-opening win over Milligan (Tenn.). She also played but did not score in a 3-0 loss to Georgia Gwinnett College and in a 3-0 loss to Westminster (Utah) College.
