Josh Reddick (Oakland Athletics) — Reddick was 2-for-4 with a homer and three RBIs Friday against Texas and hit a key RBI triple in the wild card-clinching win Sunday. He ended the regular season with a .264 batting average, hitting 12 home runs and driving in 54 runs. He also had 16 doubles and seven triples. He finished the regular season on a roll, hitting .324 in September and .299 since the All-Star break.

Football
Tovar Allen (Alabama State University) — Allen, a senior offensive lineman, played in the Hornets’ 38-3 win over Texas Southern. ASU (4-1) had 461 yards of offense. The Hornets visit Alcorn State this Saturday.
Drew Brindley (LaGrange College) — Brindley, a sophomore defensive back, did not play in the Panthers’ 30-29 win over Averett on Saturday. LaGrange (3-1) will visit Maryville (Tenn.) on Oct. 4.
Cross country
Kortney Sizemore (Savannah State) — The former ECHS runner had a time of 29:04.60 in the 6K race as the Tigers competed in the Charlotte Invitational at McAlpine Creek Park. A freshman, Sizemore had a time of 27:37.93 in her first meet, held by South Carolina Upstate at the Eye Opener Invitational.
Women’s soccer
Sydnie Van Curen (Georgia Southern University) — Van Curen, a senior forward, scored her first goal of the season in a 2-1 win over Louisiana-Lafayette. She headed home a crossing pass in the second half to tie the game at 1-1. Van Curen also got an assist in the 3-1 a win over Louisiana-Monroe. Georgia Southern improved to 7-2-1 overall and 2-0 in the Sun Belt. The Eagles host Arkansas State this Friday and Arkansas-Little Rock on Sunday.
Marisa Hamm (University of South Carolina-Beaufort) — Hamm played but did not record a shot in the Sand Sharks’ 11-0 loss to No. 13-ranked Northwood (Fla.). USCB completed its Florida swing with a 2-1 loss in overtime to Johnson and Wales, falling to 4-6 overall and 0-2 in the Sun Conference. USCB hosts SCAD on Saturday.
