Josh Reddick (Boston Red Sox) — Since his call up last week, Reddick is 5-for-10 with two doubles and also had his first three-hit game in the majors last Wednesday. For the season with the big club, Reddick is hitting .257 (9-for-35) with three doubles, a triple and two RBIs.
He finished his season at Triple-A Pawtucket with a .266 batting average in 114 games. He hit 18 home runs and drove in 65 runs and had 28 doubles and four triples. His OPS for the year was .767. He hit .351 with 11 homers and 29 RBIs after the International League all-star break.

Austin Chambliss (Pensacola Pelicans) — Chambliss finished the regular season with a 4-1 record and three saves, posting an earned run average of 4.15. He allowed 23 hits and 11 walks while striking out 24 in 26 innings, appearing in 21 games.
In the playoffs, Chambliss pitched two innings in the series against Shreveport-Bossier, allowing five hits and three runs. Shreveport-Bossier won the series and beat Sioux Falls in the league championship series finals.
Pensacola picked up the option on Chambliss’ contract for 2011.

Colleges
Football

Frank Manker, Dontre Washington (Shorter) — Manker, a freshman slotback, and  Washington, a freshman defensive back, and the War Hawks (0-2) will visit Pikeville (Ky.) on Sept. 18.

Asa Wright (North Greenville) — Wright, a South Effingham grad, is a starting junior guard for the Crusaders (1-2).

Soccer

Loralee Powell (Clayton State) — The former South Effingham forward is redshirting after transferring from Louisburg (N.C.) College, a two-year program. Her sister Jennifer was a four-year starter and two-time all-Peach Belt Conference selection at Clayton State.
