For the sixth consecutive year, South Effingham Middle School won the Coastal Empire softball region championship.

The Lady Mustangs defeated Ebenezer Middle School 10-5 on Tuesday at SEMS.

“This is a tremendous feeling,” SEMS coach Jona Downs said. “Ebenezer is a great team and a great opponent. The girls just came through as a team.”

Courtney Jenkins pitched a complete game for the win.

Miranda Morris led SEMS at the plate, going 4-for-4 with a triple. She scored two runs and knocked in two runs.
Allison Rattanaxay and Ashton Collins each went 1-for-3 with a home run and two RBIs.

For Ebenezer, Suzannah Stone and Cara Usher each had two hits.

“I’m extremely proud of these girls,” EMS coach Susanne Edwards said. “I told them there’s nothing to hang their heads about."
