Even before they announced her as grand champion of this year’s Invention Convention, South Effingham Elementary School fourth-grader Samantha Mattox couldn’t contain her smile.
“I thought it was really cool,” said Maddox of her win. “I was really excited.”
Mattox won first place in the fourth grade category and was named grand champion overall for her idea of a universally recognizable patch for backpacks and medical supplies that people with certain illnesses must have at all times.
