The 100-voice senior high choir from Morrison Heights Baptist Church, Clinton, Miss., is coming to Effingham County to sing several concerts, conduct Backyard Bible Clubs, help with local Christian ministries and lead an outdoor block party.

“We just want to come and be a blessing,” said John Langworthy, music minister of Morrison Heights Baptist Church.

“What is unique about this youth choir is that these are all high school students, and at least half of them are boys.”

The choir is coming at the invitation of First Baptist Church of Rincon.

The youth group will lead activities at an outdoor block party in the parking lot and grassy field of First Baptist Church of Rincon on July 13 from 7-8:30 p.m., with a mini-sports camp for kids, preschool games, free food and drinks and door prizes.

Choir members will lead Backyard Bible Clubs in Rincon at five locations: Macomber Park, Ridgewood, Oxford, Georgian Apartments and Goshen Hills. Each Backyard Bible Club will be July 14-18 from 9-11 a.m. Other choir members will assist Manna House, Our Daily Bread, Effingham Habitat for Humanity and the Savannah Care Center.

The full choir will present a musical at the following times and locations:
July 14 at 7 p.m. at First Baptist Church of Rincon;
July 15 at 7 p.m. at First Baptist Church of Springfield;
July 17 at 7 p.m. at Georgian Apartments in Rincon, outdoors near the swimming pool; and
July 18 at 7 p.m. at Macomber Park in Rincon.

All concerts and events are free and open to the public. For more information, call First Baptist Church of Rincon at 826-5536 or local coordinator Sherri Gordy at 826-2231 or visit
