Clyo chapter shines at Eastern Star session

The 32nd Grand Youth Session of the Order of the Eastern Star-PHA was held on April 25-26 in Warner Robins. There are 50 chapters in the Grand Youth Chapter.

Eleven of 14 members attended the session. Clyo placed in the following entries:
• First place Wilma S. Wallace King and Queen Extravaganza: Nadia Cassandra Pettiford was crowned as queen. Pettiford also placed locally as Chapter Queen and as Queen of the Savannah First District Youth Chapter. She is the daughter of Sandra and Abraham Pinkney.

• First place talent competition: Tiera Eleni Williams represented the Clyo Chapter with a performance of “A Proud African American Woman.” She is also a grand youth officer. She was appointed Recordress during the 2007 Grand Youth Session. She is the daughter of Clara Williams and Joe Williams.

• First place scrapbook competition; and

• Second place poster competition.

The highlight of the session was the announcement that Clyo Youth Chapter was selected as outstanding chapter of the year. To receive this award, a chapter must provide evidence of community service projects, meeting deadlines and attending all Grand Youth functions.

Clyo Youth Chapter is under the auspices of Clyo Chapter no. 292. Sister Beverly Scott is youth directress and Sister Clara Williams is assistant youth directress. Sister Altena Garvin is worthy matron.
