FBC Rincon to hold grief seminar

The grief process is always very difficult and especially so during the holidays from Thanksgiving to Christmas, when the absence of a loved-one is painfully noticed.

In order to help, First Baptist Church of Rincon is offering the seminar, “When the Holidays Hurt,” in the Memorial Chapel of First Baptist Church on Sunday, Nov. 18, from 4:30-6 p.m., led by licensed professional counselor, Ed Ike.

Ike has a Bachelor of Science from the Citadel, a M.Ed. and Ed.S. from Georgia Southern University in counseling. He served as a counselor in the Savannah/Chatham school system for 32 years, for one year with the Barnabas Center for Counseling, and since June of this year he has operated the counseling center at First Baptist Church of Rincon.

One of Ike’s specialties is grief and bereavement counseling. He will give a presentation of the grief process, including how families are affected by grief, and how to help children deal with grief.  He will also share some ideas on how to honor our loved ones and ways to take care of ourselves. Following the presentation there will be time to ask questions.

The seminar is open to the public and no registration is required.
