First Baptist Church of Rincon will host a retirement reception for Joy Spence, director of the Weekday Ministry Child Care Center, at the church’s Memorial Chapel on Sept. 9 after the evening worship service at approximately 7:30 p.m.

Spence served as director of the Weekday Ministry Child Care Center at First Baptist Church since 1978. During that time she has touched the lives of hundreds of children in Effingham County. The church will honor her with a money tree and book of memories. Weekday Ministry parents, children, First Baptist church members and the public are invited to attend the reception.

Jennifer Bentley Morgan will be the new director of the Weekday Ministry, beginning Sept. 10. She has a Bachelor of Science degree in child and family development from Georgia Southern University and was director of child and family life at St. Joseph’s/Candler Hospitals before coming to First Baptist Church of Rincon.
