Effingham Theatre is hosting its second annual guest director series at the First Baptist Church of Springfield on Highway 119 north.

 

The guest director series was introduced in 2009 to help local people with a passion for directing have some real world experience at directing a main stage production, the series also helps raise money for charities through local organizations. This year Effingham Theatre will be introducing

Jessica Webb as the guest director. Her show will be a rendition of “Puss in Boots.’” The story of the poor miller’s son and his extraordinary cat.

 

You have seen the adventures of Puss when he joined Shrek and Donkey — find out the story behind the cat with the cute eyes and dashing boots.

 

This year Effingham Theatre will be making a donation from the ticket sales to the MDA (Muscular Dystrophy Association) through the Rincon Fire Department’s “fill the boot” campaign, which will be taking place the same weekend as the show.

 

Dates and times are: Aug. 13-14 and 20-21 from 7-9 p.m. Matinee, from 3-5 p.m., will be Aug. 16.

 

Tickets are $8 for adults and $5 for students. Matinee prices are $6 for adults and $3 for students.
