POOLER — Dr. Annette Laing will be at the Mighty 8th Air Force Museum on Dec. 6 from 10-10:45 a.m. to entertain children about Christmas during World War II.

This free program, entitled “Christmas on the British Home Front” will teach children how British kids enjoyed Christmas during World War II without toys and with strict wartime food rations. She will show how American soldiers liven up Christmas for English kids separated from their families, and what exactly the Brits mean by “pantomime” and “Christmas cracker.”

Dr. Laing, a historian and author of the novel “Don’t Know Where, Don’t Know When,” about three Georgia kids who time-travel to World War II England, gives a fun interactive presentation that will have kids leaving singing.

This event is held in conjunction with the Museum’s “Christmas on the Homefront” activities.  Great for children ages 8 and older.

The Mighty 8th Air Force Museum is open daily from 9 a.m.-5 p.m. except New Year’s Day, Easter, Thanksgiving and Christmas. The museum is located in Pooler at 175 Bourne Ave., off I-95, exit 102.
