The Effingham County Hussars Chapter 2285, United Daughters of the Confederacy, will host Effingham County’s annual Confederate Memorial Day program Sunday at 4 p.m. The remembrance will be held at the Confederate Monument on the Effingham Courthouse lawn. The public is invited.

The Effingham UDC is the oldest organization for female descendants of Confederate soldiers or sailors in the county. Chief Warrant Officer (ret.) Norman V. Turner will speak on Camp Davis, the third Confederate training camp in Georgia. Camp Davis was located about two miles north of Guyton at the present day home site of Warren E. Ratchford.
