With the service delivery package approved by the Springfield City Council, Hillary Burns resigned from her position as the City Attorney at the April 26 meeting.

“I have enjoyed very much working with all of ya’ll, but I will be, of course, always available, to make the transition is quite seamless. Thank you very much for the opportunity,” Burns said.

Burns worked for the city of Springfield nearly two years, starting May 12, 2009.

“I certainly appreciate all your hard work and dedication to the city of Springfield,” said Mayor Jeff Northway, “all time you spent on every problem that we’ve ever had and you were very dedicated to this city and you’re certainly going to be missed. I personally, certainly wish you would change your mind, but it’s your decision, and I certainly regret it.”

The council appointed Rick Rafter as the city attorney.
