Springfield City Council members have cleared one hurdle for the Effingham Chamber of Commerce’s planned Taste of Effingham.

Council members have approved temporary alcohol permit for the Chamber, allowing them to sell beer and wine at the Taste of Effingham. The event will be held March 3 at the Effingham County Recreation and Parks gym in Springfield from 5-7 p.m.

Chamber interim director Rick Lott said they are hoping to have 15 to 20 food vendors available and have close to a dozen signed up for the event.
