Former Effingham County Schools’ employee arrested
Felony counts include child molestation

Erika Murison, a former employee with the Effingham County School District at South Effingham High School, was arrested and booked into Effingham County Jail on several charges, according to the Effingham County Sheriff Office incident report.

Murison has not been employed with the district since May. According to www.govsalaries.com, Murison was employed as a substitute teacher with the district in 2021 and 2022. A brief statement from the district office said Murison was an office assistant at SEHS until May. She has not been employed with the district since that date.

According to the incident report, Murison faces five felonies and two misdemeanors. Felony charges include child molestation, enticing a child for indecent purposes, and enticing a minor to engage in explicitly sexual conduct, among others. She was arrested and booked Sept. 8.

The name of the victim was not released.

The ECSO said the investigation is ongoing and would not comment further.
