RINCON — State Rep. Bill Hitchens enjoyed a 100 percent approval rating on Oct. 4.

Hitchens, who serves House District 161, had about 60 pre-K students from Blandford Elementary School clinging to his every word as he read to them.

"I enjoy talking to groups like you because nobody fusses at me," he joked.

Hitchens visited Blandford to celebrate Georgia Pre-K Week, which provides opportunities for leaders to engage with pre-K classes in local communities.

Georgia's lottery-funded pre-K program is in its 25th year, having impacted 1.6 million four-year-old children. It had only 750 students statewide when it started as a pilot program.
