ATLANTA — Lorraine Lopez, a housekeeper and team leader for the Air National Guard, is celebrating a Georgia Lottery win. Lopez, 46, won $198,753 as one of two players to match all five winning numbers in the Jan. 24 Fantasy 5 drawing.
According to Lopez, her husband, who checked the Georgia Lottery’s Web site, called her at 1 a.m. with the exciting news.
“He said, ‘Look, what I’m about to tell you, I’m not playing. I’m not joking around. This is for real,’” Lopez explained.
Her husband then announced that she won Fantasy 5.
“Hey, I couldn’t sleep anymore,” Lopez said. “We talked all night.”
Lopez, a Rincon resident, plans to pay off her home mortgage and all bills.
“Whatever is left, I’ll take a little vacation with the family. That’s it,” she said.
Lopez considers herself lucky to have won the lottery, but she says she’s “really lucky for having healthy kids and a good husband.”
Winning numbers for the Jan. 24 Fantasy 5 drawing were: 3-20-25-26-37. Lopez purchased her Quik Pik ticket at BP, 101 S. Columbia Ave. in Rincon. The second top prize ticket for the drawing was purchased in Woodstock.
Georgia Lottery retailers selling winning Fantasy 5 top prize tickets receive a retailer incentive bonus of $2,000. The retailer incentive bonus increases by $2,000 each time Fantasy 5 rolls. If more than one winning top prize ticket is sold, the retailers selling the top prize winning tickets will share the bonus. BP will receive a retailer incentive bonus of $5,000.
Since its first year, the Georgia Lottery Corporation has returned over $10.5 billion to the state of Georgia for education. All Georgia Lottery profits go to pay for specific educational programs including Georgia’s HOPE Scholarship Program and Georgia’s Pre-K Program. More than 1.1 million students have received HOPE, and more than 940,000 4-year-olds have attended the statewide, voluntary prekindergarten program.
