Saturday afternoon plane crash sends two men to hospital

The Federal Aviation Administration has been called in to investigate a small plane crash that sent two people to the hospital Saturday afternoon.
 
The single-engine plane crashed just after takeoff from a small airstrip, the Briar Patch Airport, off Green Morgan School Road, around 1 p.m. Saturday.
 
Effingham County Sheriff’s deputies were called out and found the plane in woods near the runway.
