School health screenings available at health department
girl getting vaccine

Special to the Herald

The Effingham County Health Department offers all the immunizations required for school every clinic day by appointment. The health department also offers hearing, vision, and dental screenings that are required for pre-K/Kindergarten kids or anyone attending a Georgia school for the first time.

Parents and guardians of school-age children are encouraged to take care of these immunizations and screenings as soon as possible, because the clinic gets much busier once school begins. Children going into pre-K/Kindergarten, 7th grade, and 11th grade have specific vaccine requirements for school attendance.

The Effingham County Health Department is located at 802 Hwy. 119 South, Springfield. Hours are: 8 a.m.- 5 p.m., Monday-Wednesday; 8 a.m.-7 p.m. Thursday, and 8 a.m.-2 p.m. Friday. The clinic closes for lunch each day between noon and 1 p.m. For more information, call 912-754-6484, or click on the website at: www.coastalhealthdistrict.org/
