City expresses gratitude for parade

Dear Editor:

The City of Guyton Christmas Festival and Parade was surely blessed with great weather on Dec. 3 for which we were all extremely grateful.  We are also very proud of the people whose hard work made this event happen. The City of Guyton Leisure Service Commission did a wonderful job organizing the parade and lining up the entries to the parade along with the assistance of the Effingham County ROTC. The help and cooperation of the City of Guyton Police Department and the Guyton Volunteer Fire Department was essential in insuring the safety of all participants.

A special thank you to the vendors and parade participants. For everyone who worked so hard decorating their entries, and putting on a great show, you did a wonderful job.  To all our onlookers who cheered on our parade participants and made purchases from our vendors, you made it a great day for everyone.

We were extremely honored to have the 1/3 Aviation Battalion from Hunter Army Air Field march in our parade. Mrs. Evalena Sheffield, you made us proud as our 102 years old Grand Marshal. To float judges, Lynne Corbitt and Sandra Wyman, thanks again for doing an excellent job. A special thanks to all of the dignitaries who took time from their busy schedules to participate in our parade.

A huge thank you to anyone we may have left out. We look forward to next year’s Christmas Festival and Parade and hope you will all join us again for a fun, exciting day.
