SOCIAL CIRCLE—The Board of Natural Resources recently approved the 2010-2011 waterfowl hunting regulations.

“Changes to note for the 2010-2011 migratory bird and waterfowl regulations is that the bag limit on pintail ducks has increased from one to two and that the take of white-winged doves contributes towards the daily bag limit of 15 doves, whether they are mourning or white-winged doves,” said Assistant Chief of Game Management John Bowers.

The September Canada goose season runs through Sept. 26 and the September teal season runs from Sept. 11-26. Hunting season for ducks is Nov. 20-28 and Dec. 11-Jan. 30, 2011. A summary of migratory bird hunting season dates and bag limits can be found online at www.gohuntgeorgia.com. The “Late Season Georgia Migratory Bird Regulations 2010-2011” brochure will soon be available online and through division offices and at select hunting license agents.

Youth Waterfowl Days are Nov. 13-14. On these two days, youth age 15 or younger may hunt specific migratory birds, such as ducks, Canada geese and mergansers, as long as they are accompanied by an adult of at least 18 years of age (only the youth may hunt).

In order to hunt waterfowl, hunters must have a hunting license, federal duck stamp, Georgia waterfowl conservation license and a HIP permit. If hunting on a wildlife management area, a WMA license is required.
