The USSSA Ga Pride 10-and-under fast-pitch softball team won five tournaments this summer, finished second in three and was no lower than third place in the rest of its more than nine tournaments.

The Pride won the “King of the Mountain” tournament and also finished no lower than fourth place in several 12 and under tournaments in which it played up a level. The Pride finished with a record of 66-26-2.

“We are so proud of these girls,” said coach Shannon Miller. “They fought hard all season and never gave up. Even when they were down you could never count them out because they would always battle back and come up with the win. They grew and matured into a competitive team that could compete with all of the A class teams, beating two ASA qualified teams in their last tournaments. These girls are champs on and off of the field.”

The team will be moving up to 12U in the fall and is looking forward to another great season.

USSSA Ga Pride also consists of a 12U team coached by Shawn Gleason and a 14U team coached by Jarrod Gower. The 12U team will be moving up to 14U in the fall. Both of these teams also had successful seasons. Gleason’s 12U team finished ninth out of 117 teams in the USFA World Series in Panama City Beach, Fla.

All Pride teams will be holding tryouts for the upcoming season Aug. 18 at 900 S. Rogers Street in Pooler. In addition, a new 10U team will be forming for the coming year. For more information, call Gleason at (843) 338-3364 for U14; Gower at (912) 713-0465 for U14; and Miller at (912) 660-4976.
